This requires an investigation to be thorough and carefully carried out. If surveillance video or audio is available, these items are checked over to determine exactly what transpired. Then, once all evidence has been gathered and examined, the disciplinary board may meet to consider the facts and meet out any punishments that are warranted. Some cases are reported to be worse than the proof suggests. Some patients are louder and more belligerent in getting what they want, which may lead to a case and investigation into the matter.

Renewal of License

When a nurse has had his or her license for professional medicine suspended or revoked, there are many possibilities of renewing it. However, the revocation must not have been permanent. Some professionals are provided with a settlement that may have certain conditions imposed for a number of months or years. Then, he or she may have the opportunity to renew the license when passing a background and other checks. The nurse may need to sign certain orders that are taken to the Boardís office. This process may need repeating each month to ensure the nurse is safe to practice medicine.

It is best to hire a lawyer and other professionals as necessary to renew the license and progress through these processes. If the settlement offered and accepted proposed a condition of suspension for no less than six months, the nurse may have the opportunity to renew his or her license as a professional practicing nurse after this time has lapsed. However, he or she may be subjected to tests and an evaluation such as a psychological examination to determine if he or she is fit to continue working. Then, paperwork is filed with the nursing or healthcare board or counsel for the corresponding hospital for license renewal.
