How Facebook Live Can Lead to Accidents

The age of technology has proven to be catastrophic to the young when pairing electronics and driving. Facebook takes up more time for some than any other hobby, even when the person is a passenger or operating a vehicle. It is these circumstances that often prove fatal to some.

When live recording and broadcasting on Facebook for the world to see, a person may lose his or her life due to distraction. His or her awareness of surroundings have been compromised due to ensuring the camera is at a good angle and capturing everything that is streaming to his or her followers. This has become a caution for those wanting to capture moments of perfect action or thought while traveling from one place to another.

When distracted by these tablets, mp3 players and phones, drivers of all ages have been harmed by injury or death from other vehicles that are obeying traffic laws in most instances. This means the accident is the fault of the deceased or severely injured. Because of these circumstances, the other driver may be injured and no one may be able to collect damages if additional funds are needed after the accident when insurance has run out. If this occurs and the driver that is not at fault has no more income to pay for injury, he or she may be in a dire situation.

Uploading the Accident

Some unsuspecting persons have been live streaming the camera action when being killed while in the vehicle. This means they were uploading the accident as it occurred. Those watching these videos are inadvertently witnessing someone’s death. However, even with this evidence used, it is not usually possible to determine who may be responsible for the death or injury of any involved. If a passenger survives the incident, he or she may provide proof for a case to be created. However, many of these live feeds to and through Facebook are with singular individuals that have no idea they are about to lose their lives.

Unfortunately, many of these videos remain on Facebook as they are not against the terms of service and they cannot be removed by the owner of the account any longer. The remaining testament of the loss of life is gruesome for many and is completely offensive for others. A fact that is scary to several adults is that any person of any age may see these violent deaths as they occur. The psychological trauma that a young person may sustain through viewing this footage is severe in numerous instances. The video records everything until the phone is incapable of continuing the feed as it was uploaded live.

First-Person View of an Accident

Typically when a person has the option to view something gruesome, he or she has the option of deciding to watch it. However, when a live feed is uploaded, there is a first-person view of the accident as well as no option to decide on whether the content is too much for the viewer. This means those following the person harmed in an accident are subjected to watching a live incident in progress. Knowing the person and situation are real is usually enough to cause an emotional reaction. For certain individuals, this means becoming violently ill at the sight of blood, bone or extensive property damage. The ordinary lives of those broadcasting in this manner may lead to a desensitized public after watching live accidents occur.

What this means is that Facebook is connecting the average person to what is considered exciting news. However, what is received is often bleak and dark with a glimpse of an accident, incident, mistake that causes harm and death. Some individuals may decide to upload confessions to crimes even murder. Other persons have videoed themselves performing lewd acts. Certain percentages of these uploaders also commit crimes while recording such as consuming drugs, shooting others, stealing items and similar circumstances. While some see this as connecting in either a normal manner or to expose specific acts, those that perform sports are pushed to the extremes to entertain.

Legal Recourse with Live Video

When the crime is proven on a website with the accompanying video, there is little wiggle room with law enforcement. However, for those that become victims of accidents, these recordings may assist as evidence. It is vital in obtaining a lawyer to assist with these matters as the age of technology often creates new situations that become difficult and complicated in proving in the legal world.
